About the Blog
This blog is a collection of stories with a particular theme. Each of the authors or interviewee’s have had experiences in where they have ended up on a professional or personal island. Most of the time the stories are going to be focused on an undertaking like a project, client situation, or day to day operational failures. All of these eventually reach critical mass and there comes a make or break moment. There is a deeper description of this in the [Preface].
About Me
My name is Zach Briggs and I have a background in Information Technology, Development, and Business. After having found myself on several islands over the years I knew what it was like and I didn’t like it. One day I ended up teaming up with someone I had worked with early in my career. I had a chance here about times it happened to him and to observe how it happened to him. This time I was able to help him escape the island. Armed with some new information on how it happens and after been urged by others I decided to start studying the matter. You see, I came to a significant realization. If you try hard things and you push the limits of what you know you become capable of more. However, if you do this enough times you will inevitably end up having an Oliver Queen moment. Waking up on an deserted island, shipwrecked, and going all Cast Away. My hope is that this blog will help you avoid these moments or at the very least go into them knowing that its a very real possibility with a map ready so you can escape before you end up with hair down to your waist talking to a volleyball.
Why would I care? Because I also started to realize that not only do I compulsively put myself in these situations, but I thrive on them. I also realized that if you become a master at navigating an escape from the island its a highly employable skill.
